RUSTON - Louisiana Tech senior forward Adrienne Johnson earned another honor Wednesday when she was named as a nominee to the 2011 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I by being selected to the All-Region 7 team.
Johnson joined fellow Western Athletic Conference student-athletes Tahnee Robinson of Nevada and Jaleesa Ross of Fresno State on the All-Region 7 team along with Portland State's Eryn Jones.
A total of 52 student-athletes across the country were named to the eight all-region teams and are now candidates to be named to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team released later this month.
Johnson earned her spot on the team after leading the Lady Techsters to a 24-7 record and the regular season Western Athletic Conference title while averaging 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.4 assists and 0.8 blocks per game.
The Franklin, Louisiana native scored in double figures in 30 of 31 games this season, including eclipsing the 20-point plateau 18 times during the year. She shot 52 percent from the field, 84 percent from the free throw line and 14-of-36 from beyond the arc.
She became the eighth Louisiana Tech player to be selected as the WAC Player of the Year while also earning all-WAC first team and WAC All-Defensive team honors for the third straight year. She is one of 34 players in the country named to the Wade Trophy Watch List.
Johnson was also named the WAC Player of the Week five times this year (nine for her career) and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association State Player of the Week three times.
Johnson, who needs only 35 more points to become only the fifth player in Lady Techster history to join the 2,000-point club, will lead Louisiana Tech into the 2011 NCAA Tournament against Rutgers Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the CenturyTel Arena in Bossier City.

On, Monday, March 21, the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will review these 52 candidates and trim the list to 40 finalists, all of whom will be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
