Tech Wraps Up 102nd Drake Relays Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa - Chelsea Hayes finished third in the 100m dash finals with the fourth-best time in school history and the men's 4x100m relay ran the ninth-best time in school history as Louisiana Tech wrapped up competition at the 102nd Drake Relays in Des Moines late Saturday.

Hayes ran 11.38 to finish third in a finals race where Hayes was the only finalist from a non-BCS school. The New Orleans native beat runners from Oklahoma, Illinois, Ohio State and Ole Miss in what was also the third best time at the meet.

The men's 4x100m relay ran 40.00 in the finals, finishing sixth with the ninth-best time in school history. The quartet of Dennis Richardson, Kevin Stewart, Josh Goree and Trey Hadnot posted a season-best time in the race.

Matt Wolfe ran a personal record and the 10th best time in school history as he ran 3:53.38 in the 1,500m to place seventh.

Larry Jones finished third in the discus with a throw of 181-9 (55.40m) while Brittany Guy posted an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 39-3.25 (11.97m).

Louisiana Tech has wrapped up the regular season and will turn its attention to the 2011 WAC Championships on May 10-13 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The women's program looks to continue its championship streak, having won the past six consecutive outdoor titles and 12 of the last 13 WAC titles overall.
