RUSTON -- Renovations at the Louisiana Tech Lady Techster Softball Complex are winding down as crews have worked for the past two weeks at the facility.
Crews have been working for the past week on a number of upgrades to the 29-year-old facility that houses the LA Tech softball program, including the installation of new sub-surface drainage system, installation of new irrigation system, removal of the old wood fence which is being replaced by a new chain link fence, and installation of synthetic turf in front of both dugouts, behind home plate and in both pull pens.
The renovations are stage one of preparing the facility to host the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Softball Championships as the complex will still need the addition of a press box, new stands and a covered hitting facility.
In addition to the renovations that are taking place currently, a new wrap which features graphics honoring some of Tech's top players of the past decade as well as its 2008 WAC championship team and its NCAA Tournament and WCWS teams will be installed on the bleachers in mid-August.
