RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech will host a mid-week non-conference doubleheader Wednesday against Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss as the Lady Techsters and the Rebels will face off starting at 4 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Fans are reminded that renovations continue at the facility in preparation for the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Softball Tournament May 8-11 and that only temporary bleachers are available for the games. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

The Lady Techsters (22-22) and the Rebels (22-29) have met 11 previous times with Ole Miss holding onto a slim 6-5 advantage in the all-time series.

Tech is coming off a weekend where it dropped two out of three against conference foe Utah State in Logan in a series that saw the Lady Techsters struggle against the elements, the Aggies and a widened strike zone.

Heading into the series, Tech averaged striking out only 3.3 times per game but in the three games against the Aggies, the Lady Techsters struck out a total of 26 times, including a season-high nine times in two different games. In Saturday's 5-2 loss to USU, all nine of the strikeouts the Aggies recorded were looking.

Despite the struggles in Logan, Tech is still sporting a .303 team batting average led by Kristen Miles (.366, 33 runs), Melanie Goff (.352, 28 RBI), Amanda Krueger (.344, 34 runs, 6 HR, 25 RBI), Anna Cross (.340, 6 HR, 27 RBI), Erin Kipp (.333, 13 doubles, 18 RBI), Janna Frandrup (.305, 23 RBI), Meghan Knowles (.300, 5, HR, 16 RBI), Alayna Kipp (.287, 2 HR, 15 RBI) and Dacia Hale (.223, 5 HR, 18 RBI).

Cross (6-6, 3.37 ERA), Jones (10-8, 3.72 ERA) and Goff (2-4, 3.56 ERA) continue to be the main ingredients in the Lady Techster staff.

The Rebels have struggled in the circle this season, sporting a team earned run average of 5.00 which is aided by playing in the top softball conference in the country. Carly Hummel (11-16, 4.80 ERA) and Shelby Jo Fenter (6-9, 4.65 ERA) are the top two hurlers for the Rebels.

Ole Miss is only 3-15 in road games this year although the Rebels do boast some individuals with impressive offensive numbers. Ole Miss is led by Madi Osias (.388, 6 HR, 22 RBI), Allison Brown (.331, 4 HR, 37 RBI), and RT Cantillo (.299, 5 HR, 23 RBI).

The game will pit two of the top base running teams in the nation as Ole Miss has stolen 71 bases on the year (in 90 attempts) led by Brittany Broome (31-34), Cantillo (14-20) and Brown (10-10). Louisiana Tech has swiped 88 bases (in 109 attempts) led by Cross (19-21), Krueger (15-18) and Miles (15-18).
