SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State scored runs in four straight innings and defeated Louisiana Tech 8-3 Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Softball Stadium in the third and final game of the series.

LA Tech (19-17, 5-4 WAC) took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning as Meghan Knowles drilled a two-out, solo home run over the left field fence. The home run were her fourth of the season and 19th of her career.

The lead was short-lived as Texas State took advantage of two Techsters errors in the bottom of the third inning, plating four runs on three hits off of LA Tech starter Melanie Goff. After the Bobcats (9-28, 4-5 WAC) added a single run in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 5-1, Tech rallied in the top of the fifth inning.

Amanda Krueger reached on an error and Erin Kipp drew a two-out walk to put runners on first and second before Goff lined a single to centerfield, plating one run. After Alayna Kipp walked to load the bases, Janna Frandrup plated a second run on an infield single scoring a second run and cutting the deficit to 5-3.

Knowles then missed giving Tech the lead as her bid for a grand slam home run curled just a few feet foul down the left field line. Knowles then grounded out to shortstop to end the inning.
