SEATTLE - Louisiana Tech overcame a late three-run deficit to defeat Seattle U 6-5 at Logan Field Saturday afternoon as the Lady Techsters swept the three-game series from the Redhawks.
With the win, LA Tech (26-24, 11-10 WAC) clinched the No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament in Ruston (May 8-11) as the seed will be determined by the outcome between Texas State and Utah State in a game played this afternoon.
The win also gave Tech an overall winning record in WAC play for only the third time in the 12-year affiliation in the league.
Tech trailed 4-1 through five innings after surrendering a pair of two-run home runs to Bubba Morrow and Rogin Hardy in the third and fifth innings respectively.
However, the Lady Techsters answered in the top of the sixth inning, scoring four runs on five hits with all four runs scoring with two outs in the frame. After a one-out double by Kristen Miles, Melanie Goff singled with two outs to score Miles to make the score 4-2. Following an infield single by Alayna Kipp that put runners on the corners, pinch runner Michelle Jones stole second base and Morrow's throw went into centerfield allowing pinch runner Janine Godwin to score, cutting the deficit to 4-3.
Janna Frandrup then singled to left centerfield, scoring Jones and tying the game at 4-4. With two outs, Meghan Knowles then hit a fly ball to left field that SU left fielder Erin Crowley misplayed into a double as Frandrup scored from first base to give Tech the 5-4 lead.

Cable stole second base with two outs. Izzy Geronimo then singled to shallow right center field, scoring Cable to tie the game at 5-5.
In the top of the seventh inning, Tech took advantage of a throwing error by SU pitcher Mandi Sugita which allowed Amanda Krueger to advance all the way to third base. Miles then followed with a sacrifice fly to left centerfield, scoring Krueger with the go-ahead run.
In the bottom of the frame, SU recorded a pair of singles with only one out. However, Brittney Lott lined back to Goff in the circle who then doubled off Brianna Guerrero on first for the final out of the game.
Goff (4-5) picked up the win in relief, allowing no runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of action.
Offensively, Tech was led by Miles (2-3, 1 run, 1 RBI), Frandrup (1-2, 1 run, 1 RBI), Knowles (1-3, 1 RBI), Cross (1-3, 1 RBI), Goff (1-2, 1 RBI), Krueger (1 run), Dacia Hale (1 run), Jones (1 run) and Alayna Kipp (1-3).
