Oct. 14, 2014 IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech senior Taylor Ashton was named the Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the NSU Pre-Conference Meet and leading the Bulldogs to a team title.

Ashton led Louisiana Tech to a first-place finish at the NSU Pre-Conference Meet as he notched his first win and third consecutive top-10 finish of the season. The Louisiana native finished the 8k race in 27:07.6 as he claimed the individual championship and led the Bulldogs to a team title. Prior to the meet hosted by Northwestern State, Ashton had finished seventh in the Ken Garland Invitational hosted by North Texas and second at the Mook 5 hosted by Louisiana Tech.

Louisiana Tech next competes at the Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Oct. 17.
