POST-GAME NOTES
• LA Tech captains were Kenneth Dixon, Cody Sokol, Houston Bates and Tony Johnson.
• Today's announced attendance: 20,011
• With the 59-10 win, LA Tech now leads the all-time series over WKU, 3-1, and has won two straight over the Hilltoppers.
• LA Tech is now 4-1 all-time versus teams from the Bluegrass State.
• With the win, LA Tech has won four straight and improves to 6-3 on the season, becoming bowl eligible with three games remaining. The four straight victories is a first since 2012.
• LA Tech also improved to 5-0 in league play for just the second time since moving up to the Division I level in 1975. The Bulldogs remain in first place in the C-USA West Division.
• LA Tech has now won seven of the last eight Homecoming games and has a 65-22-2 overall record on Homecoming, a tradition that began back in 1925.
• LA Tech has now recorded two wins this season by at least 49 points, the first time since 1922.
• Skip Holtz picked up win No. 98 of his head coaching career.
• LA Tech won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half.
OFFENSE
• The 59 points scored is the most this season for the Bulldogs and the most since Nov. 10, 2012 when they scored 62 at Texas State. It marked the 11th time since LA Tech moved up to Division-I in 1989 that the Bulldogs have scored at least 59 points in a single game.
• LA Tech scored 21 points in the third quarter and has now outscored its opponents in the third quarter, 118-27.
• The 31 points scored in the first half by LA Tech tied for the most in a half this season. The Bulldogs also did it in the second half against Louisiana-Lafayette.
• LA Tech was 6-of-7 in red zone scores/chances, bringing the season total to 31-of-35 converting inside the red zone.
• The 507 total yards by LA Tech marked the second time this season the offense has broken the 500-yard total.
• Cody Sokol became just the fifth Bulldog quarterback to ever throw for five touchdowns in a single game. One of the other four is Luke McCown who was in attendance.
• This marked the second straight game Cody Sokol has passed for at least 300 yards and at least three touchdowns.
• Ryan Higgins and Taylor Burch each saw playing time in the fourth quarter and each recorded two completions.
• Twelve different Bulldog receivers caught passes on the day.
• Trent Taylor recorded his first career game of 100 yards receiving, racking up a game-high and career-high in yards (113) and receptions (nine). He is only the third Bulldog this season to do so (Carlos Henderson, Kenneth Dixon).
• Trent Taylor recorded three touchdown receptions on the day, the first Bulldog to do so since Quinton Patton on Oct. 13, 2012 against Texas A&M.
• Paul Turner matched Trent Taylor's effort in receptions with nine for 84 yards, both career-highs.
• Wide receiver Terome Grant recorded his first career reception in the first quarter, a seven-yard catch. He finished with two receptions for 27 yards.
• DeJuawn Oliver recorded his first career reception, a 21-yarder in the fourth quarter. He also had a catch for 14 yards later in the same drive.
• Andy McAlindon also had his first reception of his career. It came on a fourth down attempt in the fourth quarter, but it went for negative one-yard.
• Kenneth Dixon rushed 14 times for a game-high 77 yards. It brings his season total to 758 yards and his career total to 2,869 yards which moved him into sixth place all-time in career rushing. He passed Patrick Jackson (2005-08).
• Kenneth Dixon recorded two touchdowns on the day, one rushing and one receiving, to bring his career total to 49 overall. He is just eight touchdowns shy of tying the program record set by Troy Edwards (1996-98). The junior has scored a touchdown in every game this season.
• On his first rushing attempt, Kenneth Dixon broke off a 48-yard rush for a touchdown on the Bulldogs opening drive with 12:14 left in the first quarter which put LA Tech up 7-0.
• Cody Sokol connected with Trent Taylor in the right corner of the end zone for a seven-yard touchdown completion with 9:44 to go in the second quarter, putting LA Tech ahead 24-7.
• With just 37 seconds to go in the first half, Cody Sokol found Trent Taylor again for a touchdown, this one for 19 yards over the middle, giving LA Tech a 31-10 lead going into halftime.
• Kenneth Dixon caught an 18-yard pass and went untouched for a touchdown with 11:40 left in the third quarter on the Bulldogs opening drive of the second half. The score gave LA Tech a 38-10 lead.
• Cody Sokol hit Trent Taylor again on a nine-yard touchdown pass with 8:49 left in the third quarter, giving LA Tech a 45-10 lead.
• Cody Sokol threw an 11-yard dart to Paul Turner for a touchdown with 4:12 left in the third quarter, giving LA Tech a 52-10 lead.
• Cody Sokol faked the handoff and jogged in for a 3-yard touchdown run with 14:09 left in the fourth quarter, putting LA Tech up 59-10. It was his second rushing touchdown of the season.
DEFENSE
• WKU came in as the fourth ranked offense in the country. Today they were held to season lows in total yards (297), passing yards (145) and points (10).
• The defense held WKU to zero points in the second half, the first time the Hilltoppers were held scoreless in a half this season. The previous low was 13 points.
• LA Tech defense registered five turnovers on the day, matching the season-high from when they forced five against UTEP on Oct. 4.
• LA Tech defense came up with four interceptions (two each by Adairius Barnes and Le'Vander Liggins), the third time this year they have had at least three and the first time they have had four since Nov. 9, 2013 against Southern Miss. WKU's quarterback into today's game with just four interceptions thrown.
• LA Tech came in having scored 89 points off of turnovers. They scored 21 today bringing its season total to 110.
• LA Tech recorded 10 tackles for a loss marking the fourth straight game they have had at least 10 in a game and the seventh straight they have had at least eight.
• The Bulldogs registered three sacks, the fourth straight game with at least three and the fifth this season.
• Since October of last year, Le'Vander Liggins is the fifth Bulldog to have multiple interceptions in a single game.
• Kentrell Brice recorded a game-high eight tackles.
• On the opening drive for WKU, Adairius Barnes came up with an interception returning it 12 yards. It marked the fourth consecutive game LA Tech has recorded an interception and the seventh overall.
• On a 3rd-and-long midway through the first quarter, Tony Johnson and Terrell Pinson rushed the A gap and sacked the quarterback.
• Houston Bates recorded his third sack of the season in the first quarter, making a shoe-string tackle on the quarterback outside the pocket.
• Adairius Barnes undercut the receiver and came up with his second interception of the game in the second quarter. It is the second time he has recorded two in a single game. The last time was on Nov. 9, 2013 against Southern Miss.
• On a third-and-goal for WKU at the six-yard line in the red zone, Kentrell Brice came untouched on a blitz to record a sack, his second of the season.
• Le'Vander Liggins got his first interception of the season midway through the third quarter. He then did a lateral to Xavier Woods who returned it for 39 yards.
• On the very next drive by WKU, Le'Vander Liggins picked off WKU again, and again he did a lateral to Xavier Woods who returned it for 17 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Kyle Fischer remained perfect on the season in extra points. He is now 17-of-17.
• Trent Taylor had a game-high 20-yard punt return midway through the first quarter to put LA Tech in WKU territory.
• Kyle Fischer hit on a career-long 51-yard field goal with 2:40 remaining in the first quarter to give LA Tech a 10-0 advantage. He is now 2-of-3 on the season.
• Carlos Henderson kicked it into an extra gear and ran back a 96-yard kickoff return up the left sideline for a touchdown with 14:47 left in the second quarter, giving LA Tech a 17-7 lead. It marked the 10th longest kickoff return in program history and the first for the redshirt freshman. It was the first by a Bulldog since Nov. 17, 2012 when D.J. Banks returned one for 98 yards against Utah State.
• Logan McPherson had two punts for an average of 36 yards with one downed inside the 20.
• Bryson Abraham recorded a fumble on a kickoff return by WKU in the third quarter.
