POST-GAME NOTES
• LA Tech captains were Houston Bates, Kenneth Dixon, Hunter Lee and Tony Johnson.
• Attendance for tonight's game: 16,998.
• With the 42-21 victory, LA Tech took the lead in the all-time series against North Texas, 7-6. The Bulldogs are now 4-1 all-time versus the Mean Green in Denton, Texas.
• LA Tech had lost four straight on Thursday night games until tonight's win. They are now 2-4 playing on Thursdays.
• With the 42-21 victory, it marked the first time since 2009 that LA Tech has won back-to-back games by at least 21 points.
• The 42 points scored was the most ever in the series by LA Tech against North Texas.
OFFENSE
• After a six-yard gain in the red zone to help set up a touchdown, Kenneth Dixon moved into 10th all-time in career rushing yards. He now has 2,412 after rushing for 75 yards on the night.
• With the rushing touchdown in the third quarter, Kenneth Dixon moved into ninth place on the all-time career scoring list (currently has 222).
• After going 4-for-4 in the red zone tonight, LA Tech remained perfect in the red zone this season. They are now 9-for-9.
• Trent Taylor had a game-high 57 yards receiving on five catches.
• After missing the first two games, redshirt freshman Carlos Henderson caught the first pass of his career, a five-yard gain on the Bulldogs second offensive drive of the game. He finished with six catches for 40 yards.
• Josh Gaston's first career reception was a four-yard catch from Cody Sokol for a touchdown with 10:55 left in the second quarter. LA Tech took a 7-0 lead.
• Cody Sokol hit Hunter Lee on a seam route for a 28-yard touchdown pass with 7:45 left in the second quarter to give LA Tech a 14-0 lead. That was the second straight game for Lee with a touchdown reception and the fifth overall.
• Paul Turner made a diving grab in the end zone for a five-yard touchdown reception, the first of his career, with 2:32 to go in the second quarter to give LA Tech a 21-0 lead.
• After a fumble recovery for the Bulldogs was returned to the two-yard line, Kenneth Dixon ran it in for the touchdown with 7:22 left in the third quarter to give LA Tech a 28-0 advantage.
• Cody Sokol hit on his fourth touchdown pass of the night, a 21-yard strike to Paul Turner with 1:46 left in the third quarter to go up 35-7. It marked Turner's second touchdown grab of the night.
• Cody Sokol made it five touchdown passes on the night with a 12-yard strike to Trent Taylor with 12:59 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Bulldogs a commanding 42-7 lead. That marked a new career-high for Sokol in a single game and the first quarterback to do so since Colby Cameron on Oct. 13, 2012 versus Texas A&M in Shreveport.
• Cody Sokol connected on passes to eight different receivers.
• Ryan Higgins came in with 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter and immediately connected on a pass to Carlos Henderson for the completion. He finished 2-for-4 for 20 yards.
DEFENSE
• LA Tech forced North Texas into six straight three-and-outs to open the game. The Mean Green got their first first down with 1:51 left in the first half as a result of a pass interference penalty on the Bulldogs.
• LA Tech held North Texas to just two total yards of offense in the first quarter. For the first half, the Mean Green ran 26 offensive plays and netted just 26 total yards.
• Xavier Woods notched his first career sack midway through the second quarter as he came untouched on a blitz.
• LA Tech held North Texas scoreless in the first half. The last time the Bulldogs did that was on Oct. 27, 2012 at New Mexico State.
• The first time North Texas crossed midfield was with 8:05 to go in the third quarter.
• Terrell Pinson forced and recovered a fumble and took it all the way down to the two-yard line for the Bulldogs. Both plays marked the first of his career.
• True freshman Deldrick Canty recorded his first career sack that came in the fourth quarter.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Kyle Fischer missed on a 46-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. That was Fischer's first attempt of the 2014 season and the lone attempt of the night for the Bulldogs.
• Jonathan Barnes was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts.
• Carlos Henderson had his first career kickoff return, a return of 25 yards late in the third quarter.
• LA Tech's Beau Fitte recovered a fumble after the ball touched a North Texas player on a punt.
