Jan. 20, 2015 IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech's Charla Craddock and Jarvis Gotch were both honored by Conference USA being named the league's athletes of the week.
Craddock garnered Co-Track Athlete of the Week honors after she ran a pair of league-leading times as Louisiana Tech competed at the Texas A&M Team Invitational Saturday. Craddock's time of 24.34 in the 200m ranks first in the conference as she finished fourth overall behind three Texas A&M sprinters and she ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay that set a new C-USA top time of 3:44.30 as the relay finished fourth in the meet and ranks 24th in the nation. A senior, Craddock now has two marks ranked No. 1 in the league while her 60m dash time ranks third in the conference.
Gotch was named the league's Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new school record by almost four inches in the long jump with a mark of 26-2.75 (7.99m), a mark that ranks first in the nation and third in the world this season. He scored 14 of Louisiana Tech's 20 points in the team scored meet.
Louisiana Tech returns to action at the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational where the women will face three teams ranked in the top 25 and the men will face three teams ranked in the top 40 according to the preseason rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
