POST-GAME NOTES

  • LA Tech captains were Kentrell Brice, Vernon Butler, Jeff Driskel and Kenneth Dixon
  • Today's attendance: 53,540 (Third largest crowd in Bill Snyder Family Stadium history)
  • Kansas State now leads the all-time series, 3-1, over Louisiana Tech with the Wildcats having won three straight over the Bulldogs.
  • Saturday's game versus Kansas State marked the first time a LA Tech game has ever gone to triple overtime which makes it officially the longest game in Tech history.
  • LA Tech is now 2-7 in overtime games and has lost four straight dating back to 2011.
  • LA Tech won the coin toss to start the game and elected to defer to the second half.

OFFENSE

  • The LA Tech offense accounted for 451 total yards (137 rushing, 314 passing) against K-State.
  • Trent Taylor finished the game with a career-high 174 all-purpose yards, including a career-high in both receptions (12) and receiving yards (148), while also catching a 6-yard touchdown pass to tie the game in the first overtime.
  • Jeff Driskel finished the game 30-of-51 for 314 yards. The 51 passing attempts set a new career high for the quarterback.
  • Jeff Driskel accounted for three touchdowns (two rushing and one passing). He has now recorded 11 touchdowns in the first three games of the season combined.
  • Trent Taylor led the Bulldog receivers with 12 receptions for 148 yards. The junior leads the team with 13 career touchdowns and has also registered a receiving touchdown in seven of the last nine games.
  • Trent Taylor recorded his fourth career 100-yard receiving game. The 148 receiving yards is a new career high for Taylor. His previous career-high for reception yards was 120 which occurred in 2014 against Rice.
  • Kenneth Dixon led the Bulldogs on the ground with 81 yards on 17 rushes, while Driskel rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Jeff Driskel gave LA Tech a 7-6 lead over K-State with 3:30 remaining in the second quarter with a 1-yard rushing touchdown. The rushing score was Driskel's third of the season.
  • Jeff Driskel rushed for his second touchdown of the game with 13:16 left in the fourth quarter, an 8-yard run to give LA Tech a 20-13 lead over K-State.

DEFENSE

  • The Bulldog defense registered six tackles-for-loss against the Wildcats. It marked the 14th time in the last 15 games they have had at least six.
  • Vernon Butler recovered a Kansas State fumble at LA Tech's own 7-yard line with 1:24 remaining in the first quarter. It marked Butler's first fumble recovery of the season and the second of his career.
  • Vontarrius Dora recorded a sack for a loss of eight yards on K-State's last possession of the first half. The sack was Dora's second of the season and gives him 9.5 sacks for a loss of 71 yards in his career.
  • Nick Thomason recorded a game-high 8 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss against K-State.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Jonathan Barnes was 4-for-5 on field goal attempts with makes of 25, 39, 45 and 32-yard field goals. He is now 7-for-8 on the season. His one missed field goal came in the first quarter against K-State on a 33-yard attempt.
  • Jonathan Barnes tied a career-long with his 45-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to tie the game at 23-23 and send it to overtime. Barnes previously hit a 45-yard field goal Oct. 4, 2014 against UTEP.
  • Jonathan Barnes was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. He is now 16-of-16 on the season.
  • Gerald Shouse punted four times for 180 yards with an average of 45.0. He registered one punt of 50-plus yards and two punts inside the 20-yard line.
  • Logan McPherson had one punt for 47 yards against the Wildcats.
  • Carlos Henderson had three kickoff returns for 43 yards. The sophomore moved into ninth in program history in kick return yards (now has 1,020).
  • Trent Taylor had one punt return for a career-long 26 yards in the first half against the Wildcats.
