Oct. 15, 2016 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Louisiana Tech sophomore Manoah Kiptum finished 22nd individually in a field of more than 200 runners in Friday's Crimson Classic, which was hosted by Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
The men finished 18th overall in the competition, which featured 22 of the top cross country teams in the country. This marks the fourth straight meet Kiptum has led the team with a time of 25:24 in the 8,000-meter race.
Drake Heinz finished just outside the top 100 on the day with a time of 26:37, while Austin Ballow followed with a finish time of 26:42. As a team, the Bulldogs finished with an average time of 26:48.
Kacie Kaufman was the top finisher for LA Tech on the women's side with a time of 23:43 in the 6,000-meter race to finish 159th among more than 250 runners competing Friday morning. Elia Nero also finished in the top 200 with a time of 24:19. Ashley Wingerter finished with a time of 27:57 to round out the competition for the Lady Techsters.
LA Tech will now travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Oct. 29 to compete in the 2016 Conference USA Championships.
