El Paso, Texas - On a windy Sunday afternoon in El Paso, Texas Louisiana Tech (16-9, 0-3 C-USA) fell to UTEP (12-18, 3-3 C-USA) 8-0 in five innings at Helen of Troy Field.
Carolina Sanchez pitched 3.2 innings and did not give up an earned run. The Lady Techsters could not overcome a couple of errors, as all eight of the Miner runs were unearned.
LA Tech had a runner reach base in all five innings, but could never scratch across a run.
The Lady Techsters loaded the bases in the fifth with one out, but a couple of ground outs ended the threat and the ball game.
Despite not giving up an earned run, Sanchez (3-4) was handed the loss, while Danielle Pearson (4-5) picked up the win for UTEP.
Louisiana Tech is back in action on Wednesday when the Lady Techsters make the short trip down I-20 to Grambling State for a 4 p.m. contest.
