April 25, 2016 RUSTON, La. - After thrashing the pitching staffs of both North Texas and UL-Monroe, sophomore Karlee Jensen garnered her first career weekly conference award.
In a release from the league office, the Utah native was selected as the Conference USA co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, becoming just the third Lady Techster to pick up conference honors this season.
Jensen became the first Lady Techster since 2013 to register a multi-hit performance in four consecutive games.
In the third inning of game two against North Texas, Jensen gave the Techsters a 3-1 lead over the Mean Green with her second career home run over the left field wall.
Jensen, who now leads Louisiana Tech with a .380 batting average, was superb defensively throughout the four games during the week. The sophomore recorded a team-high 11 assists and did not commit an error.
Jensen is one of just two Lady Techsters, the other being freshman Morgan Turkoly, to record an RBI in all three games of a conference series.
Louisiana Tech is 10-0 when Jensen drives in a run and 9-2 when she records multiple hits.
Jensen and the Lady Techsters will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 3 p.m. contest against Stephen F. Austin.
