Monroe, La. - Missed opportunities were the story of the night as the Lady Techsters fell to UL-Monroe 3-2 on Wednesday night in Monroe.

Louisiana Tech (19-12) left 11 runners on base in the game, which included leaving the bases loaded in the first and sixth inning.

UL-Monroe (19-21) took advantage of Lady Techster mistakes in the field, as two of Louisiana Tech's errors helped lead to all three of the Warhawk runs.

Bailey Allen got the start for Louisiana Tech and went three innings, allowing just one unearned run and striking out four.

For the second consecutive game, Anna Cross provided off the offense, blasting a two-run home run to left center in the fifth inning. Her team-leading 11th home run of the season gave Louisiana Tech a temporary 2-1 lead.

Carolina Sanchez (4-7), who was credited with the loss, came on in relief and threw two innings where she allowed two runs, one unearned, before Preslee Gallaway took over in the sixth for the final inning of work.

Melanie Coyne (13-14) went the distance for the Warhawks, throwing seven innings, giving up seven hits and four walks. Coyne worked her way out of several tight situations, with the only blemish coming from the Cross home run.

For the third time this season, Louisiana Tech left 11 or more runners on base and for the third time the Lady Techsters fell just short of a victory.

Louisiana Tech is back in action for conference play this weekend when they host UAB at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
