July 21, 2016 RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech softball signee Marilyn Rizzato was named second team MaxPrep's All-American after her stellar senior season at North Forney High School in Forney, Texas. Rizzato, who will be wearing a Lady Techster uniform this fall, earned the honor after driving in 73 runs in 39 games, leading North Forney to the Class 5A Region II semifinals. Rizzato batted .615 and hit 16 homers.
The District 12-5A MVP averaged nearly two hits per game, finishing with 72, and nearly half of her hits went for extra bases. In eight playoff games, Rizzato hit .643 with four home runs, nine runs and 17 RBIs.
She finished the season just four RBI short of the total needed to tie for 10th place in national history for most RBIs in a season, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations' online record book
Rizzato is the first LA Tech All-American softball signee in more than 20 years.
