@LATechSB Wins Pair of Fall Games

Oct. 12, 2017

RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech won another pair of games this past weekend defeating Henderson State 2-1 and ULM 8-7 in the official seven innings of 10-inning fall exhibition contests.

The teams played three "extra innings" in both games. The final 10-inning scores were Tech 4-1 over Henderson State and ULM 10-8 over the Techsters.

The Lady Techsters scheduled game at ULM Friday has been canceled and will not be made up. Tech will host Tyler Junior College and Louisiana College Saturday with game times at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.

In the victory over Henderson State on Friday night, the Lady Techsters used a two-run single from Taria Page in the bottom of the first inning to score Jazlyn Crowder and Morgan Turkoly and give LA Tech the only offense they would need.

Henderson State plated a run on a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning for the only run of the game for the opponent.

The Lady Techsters would add a pair of runs in the "extra inning" portions of the exhibition game as Addison Roark recorded an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth while Tech added a fourth run on a double steal play.

Offensively, Ali Galaz and Jensen Howell each registered two hits while Crowder, Sloane Stewartson, Roark, Page, Marilyn Rizzato, and Karlee Jensen all recorded one hit.

Five pitchers tossed innings for Tech during the 10 innings led by Krystal De La Cruz (3.0 IP, 0 runs, 1 H, 1 BB, 3Ks), Preslee Gallaway (3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 R), Jenny Chapman (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB), Howell (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) and Erin McDonald (2.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 Ks).

In Tech's 8-7 win over ULM on Saturday, the Lady Techsters got home runs and multi-hit performances from Rizzato and Page. Tech plated single runs in the first, second and fourth innings and then added two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

In addition to Page (2 hits, 1 run, 2 RBI) and Rizzato's (2 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI) offensive performances, Stewartson (1 hit, 1 RBI), Howell (1 Hit), Ariel Dailey (1 hit), Kimmie Atienza (1 hit), Katie Smith (1 hit, 1 RBI, 1 run), Crowder (run), and Kailey Anderson (run) all contributed.

Bailey Allen allowed four runs on six hits in 4.0 innings of work in the start in the circle. McDonald (1.0 IP), De La Cruz (1.0 IP, 1 K), Howell (2.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 Ks), Gallaway (0.2 IP, 1 H) and Chapman (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 runs, 2 BB) all saw work in the circle.
