POSTGAME NOTES
- Louisiana Tech captains were Jonathan Barnes, Deldrick Canty, Teddy Veal and Secdrick Cooper.
- Announced attendance: 16,597.
- With the 42-21 victory, LA Tech improved to 5-6 on the season and 3-4 in Conference USA play.
- This was the 14th meeting between LA Tech and UTEP. Tech has now won nine of the last 10 meetings, dating back to 1991.
- UTEP won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. LA Tech began the game on offense.

OFFENSE
- The LA Tech offense rushed for a season-high 343 yards, while registering two 100+-yard rushers (Jaqwis Dancy - 135 yards and Boston Scott - 134 yards) for the first time since October 29, 2016 against Rice (Boston Scott - 137, Ryan Higgins - 106).
- The 343 yards on the ground is the most of any Tech team since the 2013 season (353 vs. UTEP).
- Quarterback J'Mar Smith accumulated for four touchdowns (two passing and two rushing) for the first time in his career.
- Smith did not throw an interception, extending a streak of four-straight games without a pick.
- Through the air, he was 15-for-28 with 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the ground, Smith rushed for 49 yards and two more touchdowns.
- Running back Jaqwis Dancy set a new career high with 135 rushing yards and 15 rushing attempts. - In the second quarter, Dancy burst down the right sideline for a 54-yard touchdown run, putting Tech ahead 14-0 at that point.
- Teammate Boston Scott came just four yards short of setting a new career high, as he rushed for 134 yards in the Tech victory.
- His 22 rushing attempts set a new career high for the second-straight week after rushing 19 times last week against Florida Atlantic.
- Quarterback J'Mar Smith connected with seven different wide receivers.
- Wide receiver Teddy Veal posted a team-high 66 receiving yards to go along with a receiving TD.
- His six receptions extended his team-lead of games with 6 or more receptions to 7.
- Boston Scott took a quick swing pass from Smith 23 yards to the end zone for the game's first score with 1:20 left in the first quarter.
- Late in the second quarter, Smith plowed ahead for a 10-yard rushing TD, giving Tech a 28-0 lead with 30 seconds left before halftime.
- Early in the fourth quarter, J'Mar Smith connected with Teddy Veal for a nine-yard TD pass with 11:27 left in the game.
- Smith's second rushing TD of the day came with 3:41 left in the game, putting Tech ahead 42-21.

DEFENSE
- The Tech defense recorded three takeaways (2 interceptions and a fumble recovery).
- Safety DeMarion King registered his first-career interception, and returned it 71 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
- Defensive back Elliot Blankenship recovered a fumble forced by Dae'Von Washington (first of his career) with 9:25 left in the second quarter.
- Cornerback Amik Robertson sealed the game after intercepting a deflected pass late in the fourth quarter. The interception was his third of the season and the team's 14th of the season (second-most in Conference USA).
- Linebacker Dae'Von Washington led the defense with 8 tackles (6 solo), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

SPECIAL TEAMS
- Jonathan Barnes finished the day 5-for-5 on extra point attempts. The senior is now 34-of-37 for the season on extra points.
- Davan Dyer punted three times for 125 yards (41.7 average) and pinned two punts inside the 20-yard line.
