@LATechWBB Host Houston Baptist Thursday

Dec. 20, 2017

RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech will play its final pre-Christmas contest Thursday night when the Lady Techsters host Houston Baptist at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.

This will be the first meeting ever between the two programs in women's basketball.

Fans can tune into the contest on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM, KJVC 92.7 FM and KTKC 92.9 FM with the pregame show starting at 6 p.m. Fans can also access a free audio stream though the Louisiana Tech X mobile app while watching a live video stream through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.

Tech (7-4) has won three straight games for the second time this season and is coming off a 78-62 victory over McNeese State Monday night. In the victory over the Cowgirls, Tech shot 54 percent from the field, marking the fourth time this season that the Lady Techsters hit 50 percent or better in a game.

The Lady Techsters were led by the one-two punch inside of Alexus Malone and Zhanae Whitney, who combined to hit 16-of-20 field goal attempts and score 40 points. Malone scored a season-high 26 points while Whitney added a career-high 14 points in the contest.

Guard Taylor Stahly continued her streak of hitting at least one three-pointer in every game this season as the Newton, Kansas native scored eight points while hitting 2-of-6 from the three-point line. Kierra Anthony also hit a pair of three-pointers while adding 12 points.

Since shooting a season-low 29 percent in a loss to Clemson a few weeks ago, the Lady Techsters have shot 49 percent from the field during the recent three-game winning streak. Tech is also hitting 79 percent from the free throw line over the last four games.

Houston Baptist (4-5) enters the contest still looking for its first win of the year over a Division I program. The Huskies are 4-0 at home this year (all four wins against non-DI) and 0-5 on the road (all five losses to DI). Most recently, Houston Baptist fell 77-73 at ULM Tuesday night.
