LA Tech Track & Field Closes Out LSU Alumni Gold

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech Track & Field recorded a number of top 10 marks this weekend as the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters traveled to the southern half of the state to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational on Saturday.

On the women's side, Ona Giles finished seventh in the women's 200-meter dash finals with a time of 24.59, while Elia Nero placed eighth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.61.

LA Tech's women also finishing in eighth place in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 46.61 (Brandi Dobbin, Janiel McDonald, Ona Giles, Morgan White).

Chloe Lautric recorded a mark of 5-5.25 (1.67m) in the women's high jump to finish in fifth place in the event, while Janiel McDonald finished eighth in the women's long jump with a mark of 18-0.25 (5.49m).

In the throwing events, Rhea Thompson placed ninth in the women's shot put for the Lady Techsters with a final mark of 46-4 (14.12m) in the competition, while Morgan Keesee finished the women's hammer throw in ninth place with a mark of 167-5 (51.04m). Camille Lott competed in the women's javelin throw and finished the event in sixth place with a mark of 137-0 (41.76m).

Louisiana Tech had four men finish in the top 20 in the 800-meter run, including Drake Heinz who came in fourth place with a time of 1:55.06. Austin Ballow (12th), Conner Killian (13th) and Scott Maggio (19th) also finished the vent inside the top 20. In the men's 1,500-meter run, LA Tech's Nathan Bolner recorded a third place finish with a time of 4:14.41.

The men's 110-meter hurdles featured Jordan Patrick, who finished in fourth place with a time of 15.27, while Michael Pratt finished fifth with a time of 15.35.

In the men's field events, Tamario Lattin recorded a top 10 finish in the long jump, placing seventh with a mark of 24-2.25 (7.37m). The javelin throw saw LA Tech's Tyler Griggers finish in ninth place with a mark of 186-9 (56.92m).

Louisiana Tech returns to action next weekend as the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters are set to compete in the annual Leon Johnson NSU Invitational, hosted by the Northwestern State Demons in Natchitoches.
