Ruston, La. – Former Louisiana Tech Lady Techster guard Angela Lawson will be enshrined into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame next May as part of an eight-person class.

The class, which was announced today by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC), will be inducted during a banquet at the El Tropicano Hotel in San Antonio on May 19, 2018, as part of the annual TABC Clinic.

Lawson joins four coaches – Robert Capello, Tony Harper, Carl Irlbeck and Phil McNeely – and three other players – Sue Janes-Cappell, Noel Johnson, and Gary Sibley.

"The Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame is adding one of its strongest classes ever with this group of players and coaches," said Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Director Rick Sherley. "These men and women represent sportsmanship and success, leaving a lasting positive impact on the game of basketball in Texas."

Lawson prepped at Longview High School where she led the program to a pair of state tournament appearances, including a 39-0 record and the 1984 state title. She was named Miss Basketball in Texas that season. During her high school career she scored 3,011 points while recording more than 900 rebounds and 1000 assists.

She signed with the nationally prominent Lady Techsters. Lawson lettered for the Techsters from 1984-1988, scoring 1,210 points and grabbing 450 rebounds. Her senior season she helped lead Louisiana Tech to the 1988 NCAA National Title, hitting the game-winning shot in a 56-54 victory over Auburn.
