IRVING, Texas – A pair of Louisiana Tech cross country runners have been honored for their achievements in the classroom as both Conner Killian and Elia Nero have been voted to the 2018 InTouch Credit Union C-USA Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Academic Teams, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
 
With Killian and Nero representing the program on both teams, Louisiana Tech was one of only three conference schools (along with Charlotte and North Texas) to have a student-athlete named to both the men's all-academic team as well as the women's squad.
 
A redshirt sophomore for the Bulldogs, Killian is majoring in forestry and has produced a 3.92 cumulative GPA. The SAAC representative has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll twice and recorded three top-10 finishes in the four events he raced in this season.
 
Rounding out the women's team is Louisiana Tech's Elia Nero. Nero boasts a 3.88 GPA while majoring in political science. The junior is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. She recorded two top-10 finishes in the four races she competed in this season, including a season-best seventh place finish in the Lois Davis Invitational 5K.
 
This weekend, Killian and Nero will travel to Boca Raton, Florida, as Louisiana Tech gears up to compete in the 2018 Conference USA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
