Lady Techsters, Tigers meet at Elma Roane Fieldhouse

MEMPHIS – Louisiana Tech will get it first road test of the season Sunday afternoon when the Lady Techsters travel to Elma Roane Fieldhouse to face the Memphis Tigers.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. Fans can tune into the contest on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM (Ruston), KRMD 100.7 FM (Shreveport/Bossier City), KRMD 1340 AM (Shreveport/Bossier City) and KJVC 92.7 FM with the pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m. Fans can also access a free audio stream though the Louisiana Tech X mobile app while watching a live video stream at gotigersgo.com.

Tech (2-1) is coming off a come-from-behind win over Houston in its last outing in a game that saw the Lady Techsters rally from a 16-point deficit to pull off the 100-88 victory in overtime. It marked the sixth largest come-from-behind win in program history.

Senior guard Kierra Anthony (30.7 ppg, 22-24 FT) poured in a program and Conference USA single game record 50 points, including 44 coming after halftime. Anthony has scored 92 points in the first three games of the season, the most over the opening three-game span by any Techster in program history.

As a team, LA Tech is averaging 90 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field. In addition to Anthony, senior guard Taylor Stahly is averaging 13.7 points per game while hitting 9-of-26 from the three-point line. Stahly has hit at least one three-pointer in 34 straight games, a LA Tech program record.

Memphis (1-2) has dropped two straight road games after opening the season with a 68-67 win over Jackson State. The Tigers fell at Arkansas State (77-66) and at UAB (85-54) in their last two outings.

Freshman Jamirah Shutes is leading the Tigers, averaging 16.0 points per game while forward Alana Davis (11.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg) leads the team in rebounding. Memphis has struggled defensively, allowing opponents to shoot 47 percent from the field and average 76.3 points per contest.

Tech leads the all-time series against the Tigers 9-4, including a 65-40 win over Memphis in Ruston last season. Memphis defeated LA Tech 56-54 the last time the two teams met at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
