RUSTON, La. ââ'¬" Jazlyn Crowder recorded three hits and freshman Erin McDonald picked up her third straight win in the circle leading Louisiana Tech to a 9-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday evening at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Tech (28-17) picked up its 12th straight win and improved to 15-2 at home this season while UAPB fell to 13-24. Head coach Mark Montgomery sat numerous starters and utilized almost his entire bench in the victory.
McDonald (3-0) allowed a first inning unearned run before settling down and tossing 4.0 innings while surrendering just two hits and two walks while striking out five. Junior Krystal De La Cruz threw one scoreless inning in relief, retiring all three batters she faced.
Tech plated two runs in each of the first two frames, one in the third and then added four in the fifth to complete the run-rule win.
Sloane Stewartson, Sydney Casteel, Berkley Calapp and Crowder all recorded run-scoring hits while Kimmie Atienza and Bayli Simon each drove home runs with sacrifice flies. Karlee Jensen added an RBI on a fielders choice as Tech totaled 11 hits in the win.
Tech stole eight bases in the game, giving it 107 on the season now.
The Lady Techsters host UAB in a huge Conference USA series Saturday and Sunday in Ruston for Senior Weekend. Tech is currently in first place in the league while UAB is in second place.
