RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech returns from a 13-day layoff on the court when the Lady Techsters host Arkansas State Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
It is the final non-conference contest of the season for Tech, which opens Conference USA play on Jan. 4 at Southern Miss.
The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM with the pregame show set for 1:30 p.m. It can also be watched live through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.
Tech (7-3) hasn't played since a 70-66 win over Grambling State on Dec. 16 while Arkansas State (3-7) hasn't taken the court since a 111-43 loss to 5
th-ranked Baylor on Dec. 18. The contest is the 42
nd all-time in a series that has been dominated by Tech (38-3).
The Lady Techsters and the Red Wolves were both conference foes in the American South (1987-1991) and Sun Belt Conference (1991-2001). Tech is 17-1 all-time against Arkansas State in Ruston although the Red Wolves won the last meeting at the Thomas Assembly Center back during the 2012-13 season.
Guards
Keiunna Walker (11.0 ppg, 14 steals),
Amber Dixon (10.2 ppg, 16 steals) and
Grayson Bright (8.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg) lead Louisiana Tech offensively this season. Tech is averaging 71.7 points per game and is shooting 42 percent as a team from the field.
Arkansas State is led offensively by Peyton Martin (13.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg), Jireh Washington (12.4 ppg, 36 assists) and Morgan Wallace (9.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg). The Red Wolves are averaging 65.3 points per contest and are shooting 39 percent as a team.
