@LATechWBB, McNeese State Set for Thursday Showdown

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech and McNeese State will meet for the 29th time when the Lady Techsters host the Cowgirls Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Tech (4-2) leads the all-time series against McNeese State (2-5) 21-7, including an 89-48 win in Lake Charles last season. The Lady Techsters have won three straight meetings in the series.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM with the pregame show starting at 6 p.m. The contest can also be seen streamed through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.

Head coach Brooke Stoehr's team has won two straight games, including a 43-38 victory over Little Rock Monday night in Arkansas. Tech held the Trojans without a field goal for more than 13 minutes over the third and fourth quarters and used a 17-1 run to pull away for the victory.

After struggling defensively at times through its first four games, Tech has held its last two opponents to 52 and 38 points. In those two wins, Tech's defense has allowed the opponent to combine to hit just 29 of 107 field goal for less than 28 percent.

Offensively, Tech boasts a balanced attack led by sophomore Keiunna Walker (12.2 ppg), junior Amber Dixon (9.3 ppg), sophomore Amber Hawkison (9.0 ppg) and senior Grayson Bright (8.3 ppg). Tech is averaging 70.5 points per game.

McNeese State snapped a four-game losing skid with a 72-69 win over ULM Sunday in Lake Charles. The Cowgirls have played a tough non-conference schedule, including losses to Arkansas, SMU, Rice and UAB.

Callie Maddox (12.6 ppg) leads McNeese State in scoring while Bre'Ashlee Jones (9.3 ppg), Regan Bolton (9.3 ppg) and Divine Tanks (8.3 ppg) have also been productive on the offensive end.

The Cowgirls have struggled defensively, allowing opponents to average 77.3 points per game and shoot 48 percent from the field through the first seven games of the season.
