RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech senior Krystal De La Cruz was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week Monday following her performance in the opening weekend of the season.

The Eagle Pass, Texas, native earned all-tournament team honors and recorded a pair of stellar performances in the circle for LA Tech, including a victory over 17^th ranked Auburn. De La Cruz went 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA while limiting Auburn and Missouri State batters to hit just .162 against her. She allowed just six hits in 11 IP with two walks and eight Ks.

She picked up her first win in Tech's 2-1 victory over No. 17 Auburn, limiting the Tigers to just one run (solo home run) on four hits with four Ks in 6.0 IP.

She came back less than 15 hours later to record the win over Missouri State, limiting the Bears to just one run on two hits with no walks and 4 K's in 5.0 IP. De La Cruz took a no hitter into the fifth inning before the Bears recorded back-to-back hits with two outs in the frame.

Tech won the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record on the weekend.

De La Cruz will lead Louisiana Tech into Wednesday's home opener against Southeastern Louisiana at 5 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
