LA Tech Football Announces Guiton as Outside WR Coach

Guiton comes to Louisiana Tech from the University of Houston

RUSTON, La.  – Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz has announced the addition of Kenny Guiton to his coaching staff as the new outside receivers coach for the Bulldogs on Monday.

Guiton comes to Louisiana Tech from the University of Houston and will be responsible for leading the outside receivers for the Bulldogs. With the addition of Guiton to the staff, current LA Tech offensive coordinator Todd Fitch will now take over the role of quarterback coach for the Bulldogs following the departure of Tim Rattay.

"I am excited to bring someone in with the energy, enthusiasm and experience of Kenny Guiton," Holtz said of the newest addition to his staff. "He is very knowledgeable of the game having been a quarterback and has now coached receivers for a number of years. He understands the offense, so I am excited to have him join the staff and be a part of our program."

Guiton spent the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach at Houston where he helped guide one of the nation's top offenses in 2018. The 2018 Cougar offense ranked fifth nationally in scoring offense with 43.9 points per game and seventh nationally in total offense with 512.5 yards per game. Houston scored at least 30 points in all 12 regular-season games and hit the 40-point mark in 10 of 12 games.

In 2015, Guiton began his coaching career at Houston as a graduate assistant working under his former offensive coordinator and current Texas head coach Tom Herman. In that role, Guiton helped guide the Cougar wide receivers and quarterbacks. Guiton was part of the staff that led Houston to a 13-1 record in 2015 and a 9-4 mark the next season.

The former Ohio State quarterback enjoyed a four-month stint as a quality control coach for wide receivers at the University of Texas in early 2017 before joining the Houston Cougars for his second stint in April 2017 under then head coach Major Applewhite.

In his time at Houston, Guiton helped lead the Cougars to four straight bowl games, including a win over No. 9 Florida State in the 2015 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. In the four combined seasons Guiton coached the Houston receivers, the Cougars had a 1,000-yard receiver each year.

As a student-athlete, Guiton spent five years as a member of the Ohio State football program where he served as a team captain for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Guiton saw action in 22 total games as a quarterback for the Buckeyes with two starts in his senior season. In eight appearances for the Buckeyes in 2013, Guiton completed nearly 69 percent of his passes, accounting for 14 passing touchdowns and just two interceptions, while also rushing for five touchdowns.

Following the completion of his Ohio State career, Guiton was invited to Buffalo Bills camp before joining the LA Kiss of the Arena Football League.

Guiton is a 2013 graduate of Ohio State University where he earned his degree in Family Resource Management.
