@LATechSB Opens Florida Trip Against Czech Republic

Techstesr will play 10 games in 9 days

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech will begin its 10-day spring break Florida road trip Friday when the Lady Techsters face the Czech Republic national team in an exhibition game in Clermont, Florida.

First pitch is slated for 4:15 p.m. and the game can be seen through a paid subscription to FloSoftball.com.

Following Friday's exhibition game, Tech (10-1) will play 10 games in an nine-day span, including marquee match-ups against defending national champion and undefeated Florida State as well as three games against UCF.

Tech will play a doubleheader at Stetson Saturday at 1 p.m. CT before then playing Penn State (11 a.m.) and UCF (1:30 p.m.) Sunday in the final day of the Knights Classic in Orlando. The Lady Techsters will also play a mid-week game Wednesday against UCF and then will participate next weekend in the UCF Invitational against Dartmouth, Toledo, FSU and UCF.

Saturday's doubleheader against Stetson can be seen streamed for free through GoHatters.com. Stetson, which will face C-USA foe Florida Atlantic Friday in a DH, is 2-5 on the season with wins over Villanova and Providence.

Tech fans can watch Sunday's game vs. UCF through a paid subscription to UCFKnights.tv while there will be no audio or video coverage of the game against Penn State. Fans can follow through live stats.

The Lady Techsters, who are No. 30 in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, look to continue their hot start to the season. Tech boasts a team batting average of .349 with eight of its top nine regulars batting .300 or better.

Kimmie Atienza (.438, 14 runs, 8-8 SB), Morgan Turkoly (.400, 16 runs, 7-7 SB), Lindsay Edwards (.375, 6 runs), Marilyn Rizzato (.367, HR, 10 RBI), Bayli Simon (.367, HR, 3 RBI), Mary Terral (.353, 4 HR, 14 RBI), Jazlyn Crowder (.344, 2 HR, 10 RBI) and Zoe Hicks (.300, 8 RBI) have helped Tech average almost seven runs a game.

The Tech pitching staff was spectacular in the opening weekend in Gulf Shores before struggling at times this past weekend in Ruston. However, led by a pair of all-conference arms in Krystal De La Cruz (3-0, 2.85 ERA) and Preslee Gallaway (3-1, 3 saves, 3.27 ERA), the Lady Techsters look for an improved performance this weekend.
