Senior earns a spot on prestigious team for second straight year
RUSTON, La. – On the court, threes are Louisiana Tech guard Taylor Stahly's favorite number.
After all, the Newton, Kansas, native has made 148 of them during her two-year playing career in Ruston and 375 of them during her collegiate career which also includes two seasons at Hutchinson Community College.
Off the court, fours are her favorite number. As in a 4.0 cumulative grade point average during her academic career at both institutions.
On Friday, Stahly was rewarded for her work both on and off the court as she was a repeat selection to the Conference USA All-Academic Women's Basketball Team.
Stahly is just one of five women's basketball players among the 14 C-USA schools to earn the honor, joining Rice's Nicole Iademarco and Erica Ogwumike, Southern Miss's Megan Brown and UAB's Deanna Kuzmanic. She became the first Lady Techster to earn this honor last season and joins both Ogwumike and Kuzmanic as repeat members of this prestigious team.
This honor comes just two weeks after being voted to the 2019 Google Cloud CoSIDA All-District 6 team, qualifying her for Academic All-American honors. Stahly was an Academic All-American on the junior college level her sophomore season at Hutchinson.
Stahly, who will graduate in kinesiology and health promotions in May, is one of the league's top three-point threats for the second straight season. After being the only C-USA player to hit at least one three-pointer in every game last year – she missed the LA Tech single season record by one three-pointer – Stahly has connected on 63 of them this year.
She will end her LA Tech career ranked No. 4 in three-pointers made despite playing just two seasons for the Lady Techsters.
