RUSTON, La. –
Mary Terral hit her seventh home run of the season but Louisiana Tech fell to 8
th ranked UL-Lafayette 7-2 Wednesday night at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
UL-Lafayette (43-4) won its 20
th straight game as Julie Rawls led the Ragin Cajuns with a pair of hits and three RBI in the win.
After ULL took a 2-0 lead on a 2-run home run by Kara Gremillion in the top of the second inning against Lady Techster starter
Jenny Chapman, Tech (36-13) answered in the bottom half of the frame.
Bayli Simon drew a two-out walk and then Terral hit a no-doubter down the left field line, tying the game at 2-2.
The Ragin Cajuns wasted little time in regaining the lead, plating two runs off three hits in the top of the third inning. ULL then scored three more in the top of the fourth inning against
Preslee Gallaway to take a 7-2 lead.
Neither team plated a run over the final three innings of action.
Summer Ellyson (30-4) picked up the win in the circle, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out five batters in 6.0 innings of work.
Terral (HR, 2 RBI),
Kimmie Atienza (single) and
Lindsay Edwards (single) led Tech offensively.
Chapman (3-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.0 innings of work.
Tech hosts WKU in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday in the final home games of the season.
