@LATechWBB Anthony Signs Professional Contract

New Iberia native led C-USA in scoring as senior

RUSTON, La. – Former Louisiana Tech guard Kierra Anthony signed a contract this weekend to play professionally in Luxembourg, Europe with Etzella Ettelbruck .

Anthony was a four-year letter winner and a three-year starter for the Lady Techsters, ending her career ranked in the Top 15 all-time in scoring in program history. She earned first team all-conference USA and all-state honors this past season while leading the league and the state in scoring.

"We are excited for Kierra and proud of her for beginning her professional basketball career," said Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. "The opportunity to see a dream become a reality for her is special. Kierra worked diligently in earning her degree from Louisiana Tech and now has the benefit of continuing to pursue her professional goals on the court."

Anthony ranked No. 4 in the country as a senior averaging 23.4 points per game, including a program and Conference USA single game record 50 points in a 100-88 win over Houston in November. She tied the program record with seven games of 30-plus points last year, including 45 points in a win over rival Southern Miss.

"I am very excited," said Anthony. "I thank God for the opportunity because I have always dreamed of playing professionally since I was a kid. I'm finally getting a chance to do it so I am definitely going to make the best of it. I have an opportunity to make a living doing what I love to do so when I'm done I can give back to my family and community."

Anthony graduated from Tech this spring.
