RUSTON -- Former fan favorite Debbie Primeaux Williamson, a member of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters team that won the first-ever NCAA women's basketball national championship in 1982 and a co-captain of the 1984 team, was recently named the Atlantic Coach Conference's Supervisor of Women's Basketball Officials.
 
Williamson will oversee and maintain the women's basketball officiating staff, including all evaluations and ratings. She will also seek training and educational opportunities to promote the recruitment and development of a highly skilled and diverse roster of ACC Women's Basketball Officials, including a player-to-referee program, according to a release from the league's office in Greensboro, North Carolina.
 
"It has been a great privilege to serve others through the game of basketball," said Williamson in the release. "I'm appreciative of the opportunities I've been entrusted with and am both humbled and honored to be chosen to serve the ACC and its women's basketball programs. I share their commitment to excellence and look forward to the solid work and opportunities ahead."
 
Williamson, who earned her doctorate in Education, was the NCAA Women's Basketball Secretary-Rules Editor for eight years and the NCAA National Coordinator of Women's Basketball Officials for three. She has served on the officiating staffs of several conferences, has given numerous presentations at women's basketball regional conventions and conferences, and has written several publications and research abstracts focusing on women's basketball and sport management.
 
She has also been a teaching assistant professor and online instructor and a women's college basketball assistant coach since leaving Tech.
 
Williamson is married to Ruston native and Houston Baptist University Deputy Director of Athletics Stan Williamson (Tech Class of 1985 and 1986), and the mother of Courtney Matthews, Mark and Nathan Williamson.
