Bulldogs Win Mook 4 Invitational as Conner Killian Notches First Collegiate Victory

RUSTON, La. – Redshirt senior Conner Killian notched his first collegiate win Sunday as the Bulldogs recorded their second team victory of the year at the Mook 4 Invitational. Junior Riley Killian followed up her first collegiate win from a week ago with a third-place finish to pace the women's team.

All nine Bulldogs placed inside the top 10 of Sunday's dual meet with ULM, including the top eight finishes to notch a perfect team score of 15. ULM recorded a team score of 50 with Kevin Dietrich pacing the Warhawks with a ninth-place finish.

Conner Killian's time of 20:59 earned him the win in his final home meet as a Bulldog. The redshirt senior finished second in the Warhawk Cross Country Invitational a week ago.

"The home meet is a very special meet, and it's one that's been on my bucket list to win since freshman year," Conner Killian said. "To win here, even though it's a small meet, is super special to me."

Senior Austin Ballow (21:23), junior William Harrell (21:24), junior Josiah Perez (21:44) and senior John Barham (21:54) rounded out the top five for the men's side in the four-mile run. Senior Mason Youberg (22:14), sophomore Logan Bailey (23:09), freshman Joshua Raiford (23:12) and sophomore Trent Terminie (23:47) placed sixth, seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively, for LA Tech.

"They competed as well as the conditions were going to allow, and by that I mean the heat and the course was soggy," head coach Gary Stanley said. "We scored 15, and in our world that's a perfect score. We actually put eight in front of ULM's first guy, so I was pleased with that."

On the women's side, Riley Killian (16:22) and junior Callie Ezell (17:22) secured top five finishes for the Lady Techsters. Ezell finished fifth, junior Emily Milbourn placed sixth (18:03), junior Bethanie Dunn finished ninth (18:47) and senior Elise Bordlee placed 10th (19:45) in the 4K race.

"The women raced as hard as they could on this day," Stanley said. "Riley was coming off a great win last week, which was her first ever. That's awfully hard to follow those expectations, but she gave a great effort.

"It would've been easy in this heat to fold up and drop out, so I'm proud of all of them and their efforts. I think the world of them."

ULM took home the women's team title with a score of 23. Eliana Battle placed first and led the Warhawks with a time of 16:07. The Lady Techsters registered a team score of 33.

The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters will race in their final regular-season meet of the season on Saturday with the Watson Invitational set in Clinton, Mississippi. The men's team placed second in this past year's meet in Mississippi, while Riley Killian recorded a 10th-place finish in the 18-team meet.

"I'm looking forward to next weekend a lot," Riley Killian said. "The [women's] team basically had their season opener this weekend, so us having another chance to work out this week will help us do better and keep surprising ourselves."
