RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech football (3-2, 2-1 C-USA) travels to San Antonio, Texas, to take on UTSA (3-3, 1-1 C-USA) on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. (CT), inside the Alamodome.
Â
"We know it's going to be a challenge playing down there in the Alamodome," head coach
Skip Holtz said. "It's always a dogfight. It's going to be a competitive game and it's a conference game on the road. I wouldn't expect anything less."
Â
The Bulldogs return to west division action after losing to Marshall, 35-17, on Oct. 17. Louisiana Tech has won its previous two west division matchups this season after defeating Southern Miss, 31-30, and UTEP, 21-17. LA Tech has won six straight games against UTSA, including two contests in San Antonio, and has not lost at a Texas C-USA school since 2013.
"We just have to take it one at a time," Holtz said. "We have to get better this week. We keep saying if you want to change the future, you have to focus on the present. If we want the results we want for the future, the big goals that you talk about, we have to get focused in the present and what we have to do to get better. Because if we don't improve, we're not going to see different results."Â
Holtz is in his eighth season at the helm of LA Tech football where he has collected a 59-38 overall record. He has led the Bulldogs to six straight bowl victories, including a 14-0 win over Miami (Fla.) in the Walk On's Independence Bowl last season (Dec. 26). The win was the first shutout in Independence Bowl history and the only shutout of the 2019 bowl season. Just 10 out of 130 FBS teams have won six or more consecutive bowl games, and LA Tech has the only active streak.
Â
UTSA opened the 2020 season with three straight victories over Texas State, Stephen F. Austin and Middle Tennessee. However, the Roadrunners have lost their last three meetings, including a 28-16 loss to Army in San Antonio on Oct. 17.
