Roberson Named State Player of the Week

RUSTON, La. -- Louisiana Tech sophomore forward Anna Larr Roberson picked up her first honors of the 2020-21 season when she was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, in an announcement by the organization on Monday.

The award is based on nominations and voting by the state's women's basketball sports information directors with SIDs not able to vote for their own players.

Roberson recorded a pair of double-doubles in her first two starts of the season to lead Louisiana Tech to home victories over in-state rivals ULM and UL-Lafayette. The Ruston, La., native shot 54 percent (13-for-24) from the field and 75 percent (9-for-12) from the free throw line during the week while averaging 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 block on the week.

She started the week with a 16-point, 12-rebound effort in a 63-45 win over ULM that also included a career-high three steals before finishing the week with a career-high 19 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two blocks effort in a 68-65 win on Sunday over Louisiana.

In the three-point win over the Ragin' Cajuns, the 6-foot-3 Roberson scored nine points, grabbed four rebounds and added two blocks in the fourth quarter to propel the Lady Techsters to the win.

Roberson will lead the Lady Techsters into Conference USA action Jan. 1 and 2 at Marshall.
