BEAUMONT, Texas –
Mary Terral's solo home run ignited a four-run sixth inning as Louisiana Tech rallied for a 5-4 come-from-behind win over Lamar Wednesday night at LU Softball Complex.
Tech (6-15) opens Conference USA action this weekend when the Lady Techsters travel to El Paso to face UTEP Friday through Sunday.
With the Lady Techsters trailing 3-1, Terral homered to left field with one out in the top of the sixth inning, starting a four-run rally.
Meghan Robicheaux singled and scored on
Addison Roark's RBI triple to left field, tying the game at 3-3.
Kailey Anderson then singled to left center to give Tech its first lead at 4-3. With two outs,
Bayli Simon reached on a throwing error by the Lamar pitcher as Anderson scored to up the advantage to 5-3.
Lamar rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring a run with one out to cut the lead to 5-4. However,
Audrey Pickett, who came on in relief of starter
Hannah Koenig in the fifth inning, got two straight outs with the tying run on third to end the game.
Tech trailed 1-0 early before senior
Marilyn Rizzato tied the game at 1-1 with her third home run of the season.
Pickett (4-6) picked up the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 3.0 innings of action.
