ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (4-2)
The Lady Techsters dropped just their second game of the season last Saturday to Colorado, despite a game-high 17 points from
Keiunna Walker. Tech found themselves down by 12 early in the second half before eight straight points from Walker sparked an 11-0 run to cut the deficit down to one at 28-27, but Tech was unable to take the lead.
Walker continued to score in bunches as all 17 or her points came in the second half, her eighth straight game scoring in double-figures dating back to last season. Walker is just one of six players in Conference USA to have scored in double-figures in every game their team has played in this season.Sophomore
Anna Larr Roberson also had a great performance Saturday afternoon scoring eight points and grabbing 11 rebounds, her 12th career game with double-digit rebounds.
The Lady Techsters have had success from the inside all year long, outscoring their opponents this season, 216-142, in the paint. A large part of that comes from the play of Roberson (11.2 ppg.),
Jadona Davis (2.0 ppg.) and
Kate Thompson (3.5 ppg.) down low. Tech also gets a major contribution from the guards as Tech has outscored its opponents, 82-47, in fast-break points.
Four Lady Techsters are averaging in double-figures led by Walker's at 17.7 points per game. Other Lady Techsters scoring in double-figure are
Amaya Brannon (10.7 ppg.), Roberson (11.2 ppg.) and
Salma Bates (10.0 ppg.) Roberson leads the Lady Techsters in rebounds, pulling down 8.2 boards a game.
ABOUT UL-MONROE (2-6)
ULM enters Thursday's contest with a 2-6 overall record. The Warhawks have won each of their two home games this season, taking down Louisiana College (71-58) and Centenary (70-36). ULM has dropped their last three contests to Stetson, New Mexico and SFA last weekend at the Van Chancellor Classic in Texas.
Second-year freshman Kyren Whittington leads the Warhawks, picked to finish 12th in this year's Sun Belt Conference preseason poll. Whittington is the only Warhawk averaging in double-figures at 10.9 points per game on 44 percent shooting. Whittington has scored in double-figures five times, including in each of their two wins this season.
Seven other Warhawks average between 7.3 and 4.0 points per game with senior Kierra Crockett leading the charge with 7.3 points per contest. ULM has found early success scoring in the paint as 228 of the teams 427 points have come in the paint.
SERIES HISTORY
LA Tech hold an 47-9 lead in the overall series with an 18-7 all-time against ULM in Monroe and 173-19 against current members of the Sun Belt Conference. The Lady Techsters have won the previous three meetings, including a 63-45 win over the Warhawks last season. Thursday nights matchup will be the 57th meeting between the two schools, that is the most against any opponent in Tech history.
