Lady Techsters Travel South to UL-Lafayette for Non-Conference Battle

Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.

RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women's basketball team hits the road, traveling south to face UL-Lafayette on Sunday afternoon inside the Cajundome.

Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN+ or can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network (97.7 FM) with Kyle Roberts on the call.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (7-2)
Off to their best start since the 2003-04 season, Louisiana Tech enters Sunday's contest with a 7-2 record. The Lady Techsters have won three straight games, including their 16th straight home non-conference game, defeating Sam Houston 77-52 on Dec. 10th.

The Lady Techsters are led offensively by junior Keiunna Walker (17.1 ppg). Walker has filled the stat sheet all year, ranking third in scoring and eight in field goal percentage (43.0 %) in Conference USA.

Roberson had been a force on the defensive end of the floor for Tech, ranking third in rebounds (9.4 rpg), fourth in blocked shots (1.56 bpg), while contributing on the offensive end of the floor with 12.9 points per game.

Defensively, Tech ranks as one of the best defense teams in C-USA. The Lady Techsters rank first in blocked shots (4.56 bpg), second in points allowed (53.7 papg), third in steals (10.9) and sixth in opponent field goal percentage (36.1 %) in C-USA.

The Lady Techsters have had success from the inside all year long, outscoring their opponents this season, 328-212, in the paint. A large part of that comes from the play of Roberson (12.9 ppg.), Jadona Davis (2.9 ppg.) and Kate Thompson (3.9 ppg.) down low.

ABOUT UL-LAFAYETTE (7-2)
After suffering just their second loss of the season to Houston on Dec. 12, the Ragin Cajuns bounced back with a 90-45 win over LSU-Shreveport on Wednesday to move to 7-2 on the season. Lafayette's only other loss has come to the hands of LSU.
 
Three Ragin' Cajuns are averaging double-digit points including Brandi Williams (15.3), Ty'Reona Doucet (10.3) and Destiny Rice (10.2), while Tamera Johnson and Makayia Hallman follow closely behind at 9.3 and 9.1 points per game respectfully. Doucet and Williams were both named to the Sun Belt Conference preseason team, with Doucet being named the Preseason Player of the Year.
 
UL-Lafayette, the defending Sun Belt Conference champions, were picked to finish second in the SBC preseason poll. They rank second in the Sun Belt and in the top 10 in the country in field-goal percentage defense (.324), while also ranking second and 36th nationally in scoring defense (54.0 ppg).
 
SERIES HISTORY
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series against UL-Lafayette, 41-2, in a series that dates back to the 1975-76 season. The Lady Techsters and the Ragin Cajuns meet last season with Tech claiming the victory 68-65 inside the Thomas Assembly Center. The Lady Techsters are a perfect 22-0 in Ruston, while posting a 16-2 record in Lafayette.
