The Louisiana Tech women's basketball team enters Sunday's conference matchup sporting an 8-4 overall record. The Lady Techsters dropped their conference opener 62-44 at Marshall, despite a game-high 21 points from junior
Keiunna Walker. The Lady Techsters have picked up win over the likes of McNeese State, Sam Houston and Boise State, but have suffered hard fought losses to undefeated Colorado, Ole Miss and UL-Lafayette.
The Lady Techsters are led offensively by junior
Keiunna Walker (16.7 ppg). Walker ranks fifth in scoring, first in free throws made (68) and free throws attempted (86) and ninth in field goal percentage (40.9 %) in Conference USA. She has scored in double-figures in her last 13 games and is just one of four players in the conference to score in double-figures in every game this season.
Sophomore
Anna Larr Roberson has been a force on the defensive end of the floor for Tech, ranking third in rebounds (9.4 rpg) and fourth in blocked shots (1.4 bpg), while contributing on the offensive end of the floor with 12.5 points per game.
Defensively, Tech ranks as one of the best defense teams in C-USA. The Lady Techsters rank second in blocked shots (4.2 bpg), third in points allowed (55.9 papg), fourth in opponent field goal percentage (37.2 %) and fifth in steals (9.8) in C-USA.
ABOUT WESTERN KENTUCKY (8-4, 1-0)
Western Kentucky is 8-4 on the season, after topping Southern Miss 98-88 in the conference opener on Thursday night. The Lady Toppers controlled the pace of the game as senior Meral Abdelgawad and freshman Mya Meredith each pulled in career-highs with 36 and 24 points respectfully.
The Lady Toppers are led by Abdelgawad, who ranks second in Conference USA in scoring at 19.7 points per game. Meredith and freshman Alexis Mead also average double-figures with 12.5 and 11.5 points per contest. Abdelgawad is also a controlls the glass inside, pulling down 8.4 rebounds a game to lead her squad.
Western Kentucky averages 74.0 points per contest, which ranks second in C-USA on 42.1 percent shooting from the field, including 32.0 percent from three and 65.2 percent from the free throw line.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series against Western Kentucky 27-23 in a series that dates back to the 1983-84 season. Western Kentucky leads the series 14-9 in games played in Bowling Green. The Lady Techsters have not won at E.A. Diddler Arena since Dec. 9, 2009. The two teams split a pair of games last season with the Lady Techsters claiming a 58-52 win in the last meeting, snapping a 10-game losing streak.
