JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Louisiana Tech triple jumper
Leah Scott recorded the second-best mark of her life to finish 32
nd out of 46 competitors at Saturday's NCAA East Regional Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
Scott, who finished fifth in the triple jump at the C-USA Outdoor Championships earlier this month, recorded a mark of 12.42 meters (40'-09"). The Prairieville, Louisiana native registered her 32
nd-place leap on her second attempt on Saturday.
"Leah recorded the second-best jump of her life to finish 32
nd at the NCAA East Preliminaries," head coach
Gary Stanley said. "She came into Saturday's meet ranked 41
st.
"She represents everything you want from a student-athlete that wears a Louisiana Tech uniform. I'm extremely proud of her efforts this year."
Scott was honored earlier this month as both a C-USA Academic Medalist and a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.
