BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Louisiana Tech women's basketball team continues Conference USA play on Saturday inside Bartow Arena to face off against the UAB Blazers.
This will be the first of a three-game road conference stretch for the Lady Techsters.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. CT and can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network (97.7 FM). The game can also be seen on CUSA.tv with a paid subscription.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (9-7, 1-4)
The Louisiana Tech women's basketball team picked up its first conference USA win earlier this week at home versus UTSA, 79-64. The Lady Techsters used a combination of balanced scoring and pressure defense in the win which saw them lead for nearly 38 minutes of the contest.
The Lady Techsters are led by junior
Keiunna Walker (17.1 ppg) who has now scored in double figures for 17 straight games, including all 16 this season. She ranks third in conference USA scoring at 19.0 ppg.
Walker moved into 41
st on the all-time scoring list with a game high 20 points for the Lady Techsters this past Monday and has a chance to continue moving up the list this weekend. She needs 11 points to pass Laquan Stallworth for 40
th and 15 points to move into 39
th ahead of Danielle Whitehurst.
Sophomore
Anna Larr Roberson, who has posted six double-doubles this season, has anchored the LA Tech defensive end averaging 9.5 rpg and 1.1 bpg while also ranking second on the team in points at 13.2 ppg. Roberson currently ranks second in rebounds while also ranking fifth in field goal percentage in C-USA.
The Lady Techsters' defense currently ranks tied for third in scoring defense at 58.1 ppg in C-USA and third in blocks per game at 3.6. Tech is forcing just under 20 turnovers a game and is tied for the league lead in free throw percentage at 76 percent.
ABOUT UAB (10-5, 3-1)
UAB greets the Lady Techsters in Birmingham with an overall record of 10-5 and currently leading the West division in C-USA at 3-1 after sweeping a Florida road swing at FIU and FAU last week. The Blazers beat the FIU Panthers (65-56) in Miami on Thursday followed by a win in Boca Raton that Saturday over the FAU Owls (82-65).
UAB has now won four of their last five games dating back to their last non-conference game versus Grambling State on Dec. 31, beating the Tigers 77-43. UAB then split their first two conference games with a win over UTEP (76-74) and a loss to recent Tech opponent UTSA (60-68).
UAB comes into the matchup tied for the league led in points per game with Western Kentucky at 70.8. The Blazers are shooting 47 percent from the field (second best in C-USA) and also lead the conference in assists at 15.8 per game.
On the defensive side they are giving up 65.8 ppg while ranking as a top three rebounding team pulling down 41.5 boards a contest.
UAB is led by their 6-2 all-conference senior center Zakyia Weathersby who is averaging a double-double this season with 14.3 points and a league-best 11.8 rpg. She is one of only three conference USA players, alongside Walker and Marshall's Savannah Wheeler, to score in double figures each game this season. Weathersby also leads C-USA with 11 double-doubles this season and owns a league best 58.1 field goal percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
The two schools have met 13 times since the 2013-2014 season with LA Tech holding a slight edge in the series 7-6. Tech has won each of the last three meetings including a conference series sweep of the Blazers last season posting 83-61 and 75-51 victories in Birmingham.
The series has historically favored the road team with 10 of the 13 meetings being claimed by the visiting program. The only host victories came from LA Tech in 2016-2017 and UAB back in 2015-2016. The Lady Techsters are now 5-1 inside the Bartow Arena. Tech won the only neutral site game of the series in 2019-2020.
The Lady Techsters and the Blazers will meet again in Ruston to close out the regular season on Saturday, Mar. 5 inside the Thomas Assembly Center at 2 pm.
