@LATechWBB Adds TCU Transfer

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr announced today that Aaliyah Morgan has been accepted to the University and has signed her financial aid agreement.

Morgan, a 6-foot-1-inch forward out of Tyler, Texas, will enroll at Tech in the spring and will join the program and prepare for the 2022-23 season with the Lady Techsters. She will have three years of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited to welcome Aaliyah to Ruston and Louisiana Tech. She will be a great addition to the program and can't wait for her to join this group in the spring quarter," said Stoehr. "Aaliyah is a versatile scorer and rebounder. She has the ability to score both facing the basket and inside the paint. Aaliyah plays with a high motor and will bring that energy on both ends of the floor. We look forward to having Aaliyah as a part of the Lady Techster family."

Morgan enjoyed a stellar prep career at Tyler Legacy High School in Tyler, Texas, where she earned Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) all-state honors following her junior season that saw her average 13 points and nine rebounds per game.

As a senior, she averaged 14.0 points and nine rebounds while leading Tyler Legacy High School to a 28-7 record and the school's first district championship since the mid-1980s. She was named the district Defensive Player of the Year and was a McDonald's All-American nominee.

Morgan earned both Academic All-District honors as well as all-state honors for the second consecutive year.

"As soon as I stepped foot in the Thomas Assembly Center, I was welcomed with open arms," said Morgan. "As a person who is relationship-driven, the environment and campus itself allowed me to feel at home. I also clicked very well with the team and coaching staff.

"I was really able to see what Coach Brooke and Scott Stoehr are doing to keep this organization successful while still bonding and getting to know players on a personal level. I'm super excited for my journey as a Lady Techster."

She saw action in nine games as a true freshman at TCU in 2020-21 before deciding to transfer out from the program following the season.
