RUSTON, La. - In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) and in partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters will host the annual Pink Out #Play4Kay game on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. versus FIU.
 
In honor of the two causes, all girls and women will receive free admission into the game. In addition, there will be a t-shirt giveaway to 500 fans and everyone attending is encouraged to join the Lady Techsters in wearing pink. 
 
NGWSD is powered by the Women's Sports Foundation which was established in 1974 to advance the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity. Their mission is to enable all girls and women to reach their potential in sports and life.  
 
Feb. 2 will represent the 36^th annual Women's Sports Foundation celebration and kick off the 50^th anniversary of Title IX. 
 
"We are excited to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day in conjunction with our Play4Kay pink game," said Head Coach Brooke Stoehr. "It is an honor to be able to compete and play this great game. It is our hope to inspire future generations of young girls while honoring the trailblazers who paved the way for us to have the opportunities we have today in sport."
 
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was founded in 2007 fulfilling Yow's vision to support advanced research, extend the quality of life for those battling cancer, serve the underserved, and unite people. 
 
Coach Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and passed away in 2009. She chose to fight her battle publicly in hopes to inspire others to make a difference in a fight that impacts each and every one of us, stating, "This is something we can do together." 
 
Since 2009, Coach Yow's fund has awarded $7.78 million to scientific research grants and programs to fight against all cancers affecting women. 
 
"We all know someone who has been or will be touched by cancer," Coach Stoehr continued. "We take great pride in helping carry on Coach Yow's legacy and helping make a difference as we raise awareness and funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Please join us in the fight against cancer as we try make a difference for those impacted by this terrible disease."
