RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women's basketball team returns to the Thomas Assembly Center for the first time since Dec. 10 and continues Conference USA play on Sunday, Jan. 9 against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. CT and can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network (97.7 FM). The game can also be seen on CUSATV.com through a paid subscription.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (8-5, 0-2)
Louisiana Tech is 8-5 this season after dropping Conference USA match-ups last weekend at Marshall and Western Kentucky. The Lady Techsters have picked up wins over the likes of McNeese State, Sam Houston and Boise State, but have suffered hard fought losses to undefeated Colorado, Ole Miss and UL-Lafayette.
The Lady Techsters are led offensively by junior
Keiunna Walker (16.8 ppg). Walker ranks fifth in C-USA in scoring, while leading the conference in free throw attempts (99) and free throws made (78). Her 78 free throws made ranks her second in the NCAA this season while her 99 attempts ranks her fourth nationally.
Sophomore
Anna Larr Roberson is another strong contributor for the Lady Techsters. She leads the team and ranks second in Conference USA in rebounds at 9.3 boards per game, while also providing 12.7 points per game.
Defensively, Tech ranks as one of the best defensive teams in C-USA. The Lady Techsters ranks third in both scoring defense (56.5 ppg) and blocked shots (3.9 bpg), fourth in turnovers forced (20.8 tofpg), fifth in field goal percentage defense (37.9%) and fifth in steals.
ABOUT SOUTHERN MISS (8-5, 0-2)
Southern Miss enters Sunday's contest sporting an 8-5 overall records after dropping their first two Conference USA contest last week. The Golden Eagles have dropped their last three games but have played the last two games five players down.
Two Golden Eagles are averaging double-figures with junior Dominique Davis leading the way with 14.3 points and 4.6 assists per game. Sophomore Melyia Grayson is the only other Lady Eagle in double-figures averaging 12.6 points per contest.
Southern Miss is one of the best rebounding teams in the country, averaging 43.0 rebounds per game. They are led by Grayson, who pulls down 8.2 boards per contest. The Golden Eagles rank first in Conference USA and eighth nationally in offensive rebounding, bring in 16.5 offensive boards per game.
Southern Miss averages 69.3 points per game while yielding 65.5 points per game. The Golden Eagles shot 43.0 percent from the field, second best in C-USA, including 27.1 percent from three and 62.7 percent from the free throw line.
SERIES HISTORY
Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss are all even in the all-time series with 10 wins apiece. The two teams split a pair of contest last season with each team earning the win on their home court. Tech leads the all-time series 8-4 in games played in Ruston, but the Golden Eagles have won four of the last five meetings between the two programs. The first meeting between the two programs came in 1989-90 when LA Tech defeated Southern Miss 89-70 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
