Parker McNeil were all voted First Team Academic All-District 6 as announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs' three selections were the most in program history.
Barnes holds a 3.736 GPA while pursuing his degree in professional aviation. Barnes has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice, the Dean's List six times and the President's List three times.
The Baton Rouge, La., native has connected on 13 of his 18 field goal attempts this season (72.2%) and leads LA Tech in scoring with 74 points on the year. He ranks 41st among the FBS active career leaders in field goal percentage (79.2) and 29th in points per game (6.8). Barnes went 12-17 (.810) in field goal attempts in 2021, which was the second-most accurate mark in the C-USA. Barnes has been nearly perfect in PATs in his three seasons with the Bulldogs, going 104-105.
McNeil holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Guidance and Counseling.
The Austin, Texas, native has thrown for 1,908 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, averaging 238.5 passing yards per game. He is among the nation's leaders in passing yards per completion at 15.51.
Burnett holds a 3.5 GPA while majoring in Computer Information Systems.
The Redshirt freshman leads Conference USA and ranks third nationally in fumble recoveries with three. He has tallied 18 tackles this season, including 2.5 for loss, two forced fumbles, and a pass breakup.
First‐team Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the College Sports Communicators Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐ and second‐team Academic All‐America® honorees will be announced in mid‐December.
LA Tech will play its final game of the 2022 season on Saturday, Nov. 26, when Tech hosts UAB. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
