Brooks Named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week

RUSTON, La. –Louisiana Tech Defensive Back Myles Brooks has been named the Blenders Eyeware Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week due to his efforts during Saturday's 40-24 win over Middle Tennessee.

Brooks recorded two interceptions and two tackles during the win, becoming the first Bulldog to record a multi-interception game since BeeJay Williamson did it last season against Southeastern (9/11/2021). Brooks' first interception came at the 14:27 mark of the third quarter, then two drives later, he picked off a Middle Tennessee pass at the LA Tech five-yard line and returned it 49 yards to the Middle Tennessee 46-yard line. The Pflugerville, Texas product is only the fifth Conference USA player to record multiple interceptions in a game this season.

Brooks has now won the award twice this season, first winning it on Oct. 10 after his pick-six in the win over UTEP.  He is the first Bulldog to win conference player of the week honors multiple times in a season since Jacob Barnes in 2020. Brooks is tied for the team lead in interceptions with three, which is tied for second among C-USA players.

Tech is back on the road this week as the Bulldogs travel to UTSA to take on the first-place Roadrunners on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Single-game tickets for the 2022 Louisiana Tech football season are on sale now. Fans can purchase tickets online at LATechSports.com/tickets or by calling the LA Tech Ticket Office at (318) 257-3631.
