Keiunna Walker Named C-USA Player of the Week

Walker's triple-double, near double-double, earns CUSA honor

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech's Keiunna Walker was named conference USA's Player of the Week today off the heels of her historic weekend.

In last Thursday's double-overtime thriller over Rice (90-80), Walker joined Tasha Williams, Shantel Hardison, and Angela Turner as the fourth player in program history to record a triple-double.

Walker finished the night with 27 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists while playing over 48 of the 50 minutes. She collected new career-highs in rebounds and assists while recording five steals and drawing five charges.

It was the first triple-double for the program since Williams in 2006. She also recorded the first ever 25-15-10 triple-double in program history.

Walker's 27 points that night also moved her past Erica Smith-Taylor and Tasha Williams on the Lady Techsters' all-time scoring list to No. 31 with 1,283 points. She is 24 points away from cracking the top 30 all-time.

On Saturday, she followed up her triple-double one rebound shy of a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lady Techsters past North Texas (62-54). Walker also collected three more steals, drew three more charges, and had two assists on the night.

The Lonoke, Ark. native is the No. 3 scorer in conference USA averaging 18.7 ppg this season on 41.5 percent shooting which ranks her at No. 7.

She has now scored in double figures 28 straight games and is the only player in conference USA to do so in every game this season. Her 27-game streak to begin a season is the longest since Kierra Anthony's 27 game streak during in 2019.

Walker is also one of the best in conference USA at getting to the free-throw line as she leads C-USA in free-throws made (143) and ranks No. 2 in attempts (186), both of which place her in the top 10 nationally.

Her milestone season has seen her surpass 1,000 points, 100 steals, 100 assists, 100 charges, and 100 games for her career. This is Walker's first C-USA honor this season and second of her career (Jan. 3, 2020). She has also been honored as the LSWA Player of the Week four times this season.

LA Tech has now won seven of their last nine games and sits a half-game ahead of North Texas and Southern Miss with one week left to play in the regular season.

The Techsters will return to action on the road in Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 5:30 p.m. before returning home Saturday, Mar. 5 to face UAB in their final regular-season home game. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. that afternoon inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
