ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (17-10, 9-7 C-USA)
Louisiana Tech has won seven of their last nine games entering the final week of the regular season.
Tech took care of Rice (90-80, 2OT) and North Texas (62-54) at home last week to take a half-game lead in the conference USA West Division standings over North Texas and Southern Miss.
Keiunna Walker and
Anna Larr Roberson put up two historic performances Thursday night over Rice in the double-overtime thriller.
Walker completed the fourth triple-double in program history (27 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists) while Roberson registered the fifth-highest single-game scoring output (44 points) on 20-28 shooting. Her 20 made field goals tied a program record that was set by Belinda Jones in 1975.
Walker and Roberson's joint performance was the first time in the last 20 years in the NCAA where teammates have gone for a 40-point night and a 20-point triple-double during the same game.
Walker, the recently named conference USA Player of the Week, is averaging 18.7 ppg this season and has scored in double figures for 28 straight games. She is the only player in conference USA to score in double figures in every game this season and is ranked No. 3 in scoring.
Her 27 points against Rice moved her ahead of Erica Smith-Taylor and Tasha Williams into 31st on the all-time scoring list for the Lady Techsters. She needs 24 points to crack the top 30.
Roberson ranks No. 2 in rebounds (8.7 rpg) and free-throw percentage (.759) in C-USA and averages 14.8 ppg. She has scored in double figures in 23 of her 26 games this season to go along with eight double-doubles.
The Lady Techsters continue to be one of the best defensive teams in Conference USA this season ranked in No. 4 in scoring defense (59.5 ppg), No. 3 in turnovers forced (19.3 tfpg), and No. 6 steals (8.6 spg).
The Techsters average 66.9 ppg this season on 42.0 percent shooting from the field and rank as the No. 1 team in conference USA in free-throw percentage (.762).
ABOUT OLD DOMINION (22-6, 12-4 C-USA)
Old Dominion welcomes Tech into Norfolk winners in six of their last seven games, including three in a row.
The pre-season C-USA No. 2 currently sits tied for second in the East standings and is one of two teams to have beaten overall No. 1 Charlotte (54-45) back in January. They are also one of two teams to reach 20-plus overall wins on the year, along with Middle Tennessee.
The Monarchs boast the No. 1 overall scoring defense in the league at 54.8 ppg and rank No. 2 in opposing field-goal percentage (.368). Offensively, ODU averages 66.4 ppg on 39.9 percent shooting.
Old Dominion is led by grad student Iggy Allen (15 ppg, 7.7 rpg) and senior Ajah Wayne (13.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Allen ranks No. 6 in scoring and No. 7 in rebounds.
THE SERIES
Louisiana Tech and Old Dominion will meet for the 28th time in women's basketball dating back to the 1978-79 season. LA Tech holds a 17-10 all-time series lead.
The LA Tech and ODU rivalry is one of the storied rivalries in women's basketball as programs both rank in the top 10 in all-time program wins. Tech currently ranks No. 5 with 1,170 wins and ODU No. 8 with 1118.
Tech took control of the series lead from 1985-1990 winning seven contests in a row. The two programs only met two more times when the rivalry was renewed in 2011. Since then, ODU holds a 5-3 advantage and won the last meeting in Norfolk (77-61) during the 2019-20 season.
Tech is 6-4 all-time in games played in Norfolk.
