NACOGDOCHES, Texas –
Lindsay Edwards belted her fourth home run of the season but Louisiana Tech couldn't muster enough offense as the Lady Techsters fell 3-2 to Stephen F. Austin Tuesday night.
SFA pitcher Kassidy Wilbur struck out 12 batters in the complete-game performance as the Lady Jacks rebounded from an earlier season loss to Tech (15-12).
Edwards second inning line drive over the left field wall gave the Lady Techsters an early 1-0 advantage. It was one of only three hits in the game for Tech.
SFA answered with two runs with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning with three straight singles. The Lady Jacks added a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to push its advantage to 3-1.
Caroline Easom led off the top of the seventh with a double and scored on
Tanjala Smith's RBI sacrifice fly. However, Wilbur recorded her 12
th strikeout of the game for the final out.
Lauren Menzina (2-4) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks in 3.2 innings of action, while
Emma Hutchinson worked 2.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Tech returns to action this weekend when it hosts FIU in a three-game Conference USA series.
